I own a 2005 CRF250R dirt bike. How do I tell how many miles it has on it? |
I'm the second owner there are simple hour meters that can be installed on dirt bikes by merely wrapping a wire around the spark plug wire that tracks the firing of the spark. I install these types of meters on all my bikes before they leave the shop (when purchased new) or installed upon picking up (when I buy used). these usually record to the tenth hour and are relatively inexpensive. http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?l1=&l2... You take a guess..... or pull the motor apart & see how much wear is in there... then work it out from there... If it has no mile meter there really is no way to know, other than taking the old owners word for it, and that usually is not worth asking him for. He'll tell you whatever you want to hear as long as he thinks you'll buy it. Pull the head and see if it has been bored, that tell you that it has been raced and probably abused 25+ years 2 stroke rider Ya. On dirt bikes they are not set up to keep track of miles or engine hours. Its based on the person riding to keep track of the engine hours. |
