Does anyone own an 85cc dirt bike? |
if you do ... tell me what brand it is, how often you rebuild it, and what you think about the maitenance costs Yes,i do.I owned a 2003 Honda CR85R expert.I rebuild top-ends every 30 hours worth of riding time.While Honda recommends this every 7.5 hours under racing conditions.HOWEVER!,I clean my air filter after EVERY ride!!!Clean it as the service manual describes to the "T"!!! An 85 is a very high rpm engine,meaning more wear quicker on piston,rings,etc.. as compared to larger 2-strokes(125's and 250's).I only use quailty 2-cycle oil(MAXIMA SUPER-M)mixed at 32:1 ratio(4oz.oil per 1gal.93 octane gas) mixed thoroughly. I am 41,and i have been riding since the age of 9,so while i may be up in age,I am a very proficient in my riding skills(I run the snot out of my bike!!)If you ride in dusty conditions,clean the filter more often,or purchase some extra filters so you always have a clean one!! As for cost,i spend about $120.00 PER TOP END ABOUT ONCE A YEAR. I used to ,I had 4 Kawasaki 85's and I had mine rebuilt every race but not racing maybe about twice a year if you are hard on them and the maintence cost i have no idea,iused to be sponsered by kawasaki. No i don't. |
