For what you would pay for a off brand bike you could pick up a nice used Honda, Kawi, Yamaha, or Suzuki... sorry off brand bikes are worthless. its really hard to go and get parts for off brands.
honda's they are the most durable
The best dirt bike for a beginner would be an import motorcycle, a cheap knock off for the big name brands. Firstly they are cheap so it doesnt matter if you dropit or flip it. Parts are so easy to come by for them because they are so popular, they are good to learn on and when you get past that stacking stage you can buy a Yamaha or Kawasaki, but defienetly go the import option first. You will find them at most Import motorcycle shops. Happy riding.
