How do you fix a dirt bike gas leak? |
How do you fix a dirt bike gas leak? Since you didn't say the source of the leak, I'll just guess: Fuel valve seal to the tank needs resealing. Remove and reinstall with Teflon tape. A hose is leaking at a barb fitting. Hose might be old and lost it's elasticity so needs replacing, or you need a better clamp over it at the fitting. Cracked hose needs replacing. Float in carburetor is not seating properly so need to rebuild the carburetor. Don't know what else!? Good Luck!Drain the Tank and treat it with 'Petseal' Where is the leak, tank, line. Insufficent info. jcwhitney makes tank sealor, but it takes dang near a week to cure. Depends on where it is leaking. Check the tank and gas lines and replace the part that is faulty. Make sure you drain your tank before removing it or the gas lines first. Then just unbolt them, replace the lines with new ones, same with the tank.I don't recommend welding a leaky gas tank as the vapors can explode and burn you badly. (Actually I really don't know what I'm talking about as I've only watched American Chopper or saw my husband work on our cars but a bike can't be that different. Where is the leak at? Your question does not compute. |
