Possible problems and solution why my dirt bike is so hard to kick start and dosent stay on when it dose start |
its a yamaha dont know model or year i change the spark plug it sounds like its tryin so hard to start but dosent 95% of the time the longest its stayed on is 10 sec and when u put it into gear it just shuts off if it eva gets to that point i know it hasnt been riddin since the summer i thought that was the problem. With 2 strokes there are a verity of problems that may be encountered. If it's been siting a long time it gets worse as the electrical connections corrode over time if not maintained..... and this too may be a real problem.... lack of it! Take the serial number to a Yamaha dealer and they can tell you what it is and the year. There are numbers on the motor and the frame steering neck.Then get a service manual if you can some where. Water in the carb, disassemble, clean check parts for wear and replace as necessary then set it up as per the manual Electrical...magneto with points or electronic? they all have there problems. Piston to cylinder clearances are more of a down the road item to attend to however if the compression test it has low compression you may need to take car of that right away. Unfortunately you need to attack one area at a time and try and figure if there is a problem with one area. For example if the exhaust pipe is plugged it won't matter what you do until you bake the pipe with a oxy/acetylene torch by heat and baking the entire length to free it of carbon build up! No bolt on stuff hear. The carb. might have a bad/leaking acclerator pump, or if you have a stator which is what generates the spark if you do not have a coil, it may be defective also! |
