How do you tell what year your dirt bike is? |
How do you tell what year your dirt bike is? It should be on the title. If it is too old to have been registered with a title or does not have a title, you can use the vin number. If it is 1980 or newer and has a 17 digit vin number, the 10th digit will be a letter or number. Y is 2000 and it goes backwards from there. If it is a number, 1 would be 2001 and so on. Source(s): My ex husband helped me answer this! A plate, (or it's stamped), on one of the forks... up in the area where the downtube connects to headstock. Unless you have some documentation, you would have to find the VIN# (usually on the neck of the frame) and call your local dealership. If your bike is an earlier model, you would have to yahoo! a bit, but you shouldn't have a problem finding an informative site. What's the make, engine size, model # and complete vin #. Jap bikes have frame #s included on the parts microfiche. If you don't want to give out that info, your best bet would be to go to an authorized dealer of that make of bike. |
