Once you have reeds out of a dirt bike out how do you check it for cracks? or how do you tell they are bad?
You use feeler gauges to check the clearance between the reed and reed cage they mount to.There should be zero clearance.You can remove the reeds and bend them slightly to inspect for cracks.
If you go through the trouble to pull the reed block out you may as well disassemble the reed block and hold them in your hand and see if they are cracked.
These 2 answers are very good. For just a quick check. Hold the reed block up to the light. You shouldn't be able to see through where the reeds touch the block.
