My Suzuki its a 1999 vz800 not a dirt bike and it has a little play in the swing arm I was told it was normal? |
And if its not normal could it be fix and how? I was told that is normal with in factory specification. Please help with problem. You mean side to side play? With the bike on the center stand, you can grab the rear wheel and move it side-to-side? Nope, this isn't normal on any bike. The chain has to stay in a straight line, or it can do all sorts of ugly damage - come off, break an engine case, bend the drive shaft. Let alone the handling problems that can come from a little too much swing in the swingarm. This is definitely not something to mess with, get 'er fixed asap. I would check with the manufaturer. I wouldn't imagine there should be any steering play on a bike but I am not claiming to be an expert either. you said you replaced the bushings and bearings in the swing arm pivot, did you notice if there was any paint flaking around the pivot area? you may have some frame cracking. i would defiantly have a close look around the swing arm pivot area.did you replace the wheel bearings? check the rear axle is straight and all the spacers fitted correctly.. You said bushings, not bearings. What is the condition of the shaft? If the bushings were badly worn, the shaft may be worn too. You've gotten a bunch of good answers, I'm just giving you something else to look at. |
