Why doesn't the front brek on my dirt bike work? |
its a hydrolic break, when I take the tubing off the resovoir and pull in the break handle, no fluid comes out of the resovoir. YES there is fluid inside :) When I connect the tubing and try to bleed it at the break, still nothing comes out, no air or fluid. What should I do? --Master cylinder clogged - clean it. --Damaged seals - rebuild the master cylinder. --The master cylinder might need to be bled - you read right, bleed the master cylinder. Cover everything to keep brake fluid off of it. Position the master cylinder so the top is level with the ground (prop up the bike, turn the handle bars, rotate the master cylinder on the bars). Fill the master cylinder to the full line. Remove the brake hose. Tie up the brake line so it's within reach and install the bolt and washers on it - keep the wrench ready to put everything back together ASAP Put your finger over the hole that the hose mounts to. Pump the lever as you normally would when bleeding the brakes. When your finger feels pressure, release it a bit to let the air out. Continue until only brake fluid comes out. Slowly squeeze the lever to prevent any air from going in and quickly bolt the brake hose back on. Bleed the brakes from the bolts first, then use the bleeder valve. If you never feel any pressure from the master cylinder, it may need a rebuild or to be replaced. Take the master cylinder apart and clean it good. the brake master cylinder is shot, sometimes you can get away with replacing the seals but often it just needs a new one. |
