How do you ride a wheelie on a trail dirt bike? DO NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH it is all about timing you will need to burp the throttle you will feel the forks compress and come back up when the start coming back up role on the twister not a lot you will only need to give it about a quarter turn but you need to be smooth with it after tie tire gets about 18 inches off the ground the front end gets light and easier to pull and now it involves balance so keep 2 fingers on the clutch and cover the rear break with your foot if it gets too high for you touch the rear break the first few times you do this the front end will come crashing down but hang on and pull the clutch in and you will be fine it is easier to do them standing up because you balance on your feet not your butt to get a good feeling of how the front end feels when it starts to come up you can stand on the back pegs and burp it in your drive way but don't try and pull it up because your foot ain't over the break in case you get to high Rev up the engine and pop out the clutch, it's all about balance. Start out not trying to ride very far, don't over accellerate or it will flip over on top of you. You lean forward, let off the gas, pull back and give it a ton of gas. balance, balance, practice. You might fall down but get back up and try again. hold the clutch then rev up the gas then let go of the clutch and then you'll wheellie pull back on the throttle, it should come up when the power band kicks in. dont give it too much throttle or the bike will come over backwards. good luck and dont give up trying At what speed? If I am going 50 I put in in 4th and roll on the throttle, the wheel just comes up all by itself, I hold it there and hit 5th if I'm lucky and hold it there for a 100 yards or so. If I am going 60 I make sure I am in 5th and hit the throttle hard and give a little yank on the bars and up she comes. At 70 I am in 6th and it takes a good hard hit on the throttle and a hefty pull on the bars but once it's up hang on because you can hold it till around 85 or so. I never use the clutch to rip a wheelie, that would be suicidal on a Husky. Anything lower than 40 mph is more of a challenge to keep the front wheel down than up. That's how I ride a wheelie on my street legal dirt bike, thanks for asking. |
