Need Licsens to work on dirt bikes quads, small engines? |
I am about to work at a family owned (my family) new machine shop. I guess wel have welding and some other fabing. But I want to start like fixing dirt bikes and atv's but I never went to school for it. Do I need to have a lisnece, or is that just to have the buyer think better? You may need a business license, or a use and occupancy permit that lists small engine repair for your business location, but you do not need a special license to work on them!! Source(s): 27 years in business I think that you should get a license because it`s illegal to repair dirt bikes and atv`s. You will be asking for problems if you try to fix those machines without training.....maybe not because you don't have a license but more so that they are very complicated despite their looks. Get some training . You won't be sorry. No you don't need to have a mechanics license to repair motorcycles, dirt bikes, quads, scooters, mopeds, mini bikes, water craft, cars, lawn mowers, chain saws, weed wackers, etc. The building you work out of should be a licensed repair shop, for insurance purposes. Guardrail is correct. If you would like some training, consider going to American Motorcycle Institute or Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. Its an expense, but, its definately very good training. You can find both places on line. |
