Trailer for two dirt bikes???? |
thinking of a utility trailer from home depot, this a good idea?? or should a get a trailer intended for bikes. Just more uses with the utility and cost less. The hardware store trailers have small wheels on them. The small wheels have to turn very fast and are notorious for burning up wheel bearings. They also don't have very good paint jobs and they'll rust out quickly. And some of them use untreated wood for the decking and it will rot out quickly. I was trying to find an ATV trailer for my Brother a couple years ago. I ended up getting an Iron Eagle trailer and he's real happy with it. Here's their Website if you want to find one of their dealers: http://www.eagleirontrailers.com/... Look at the ATV series with the recessed ramp pockets and a bump rail. They have recessed 2x4 stake pockets so you can build lift-off railings and use it as a utility trailer when you're not hauling your bikes. Whatever brand you decide on, try to stay away from the ones with the small diameter wheels. Good luck! If the bikes will fit in the trailer and the trailer's load weight will accommodate the bikes, it'll be fine. Install a "wheel lock" to keep the front end of the bikes from turning and falling over. They come in removable types. http://www.powersportrider.com/cgi-bin/z...
