I am new in the world of dirt bikes. I am thinking of buying one and gear to go along with it. I am 12 years o |
Please give me detailed counsel. stay away from the two strokes. ther are for more advanced riddders. The four strokes are better these day's any ways. start off with some thing small, like an 80-150cc bike. These are good starte bikes. Honda and Yamaha are the best ones to choose form. I have owned both. As for the gear stay away fro m o'neil it is cheap and uncomfortable. Go with fox or thor. Fox tracker boots are good. I prefer HJC helmets but that is just my opinion, they seem to fit better. Good for you! You said you were getting a bike, but you also said you were getting the gear to go with it! Very smart. Dirt bikes are tall, and you WILL fall eventually. There is a saying in the motorcycle fraternity: There are two kinds of bike riders. Those that have dropped their bike already, and those that will. Just as an aside, you say you are new to dirt bikes. I take it that means you have used some type of motorized 2 wheeled transport before, and are moving UP to a dirt bike. If you have the balance figured out already, the riding gear will be of great assistance in keeping you in one piece if you do make a bad move. Gear is good. Don't let anyone make fun of you because you are trying to protect yourself. If you look at my avatar, you will see I am sitting on a motorcycle. In a leather jacket, and with a helmet hanging from the handlebar. I also wear a large pair of "bike" boots, and always wear gloves. (Hands bleed almost as much as scalp wounds, but are worse since you have to use your hands all the time.) For being 12 years old, you show a great deal of respect for the bike. (Most people just get on, in jeans and a t-shirt, and ride. Then cry when they hurt themselves.) Knowing you need to ride safe is a great start. But don't let it make you get "cocky". You can have the stuff you know will keep your body safe, but don't take chances because you have it! I'm sorry I can't go into further detail without knowing what you will be riding, where you will be riding, and what you will be using as protective equipment, but just the fact that you stated you are getting "the gear to go with it" when you said you are getting a bike shows good sense. Good luck. Ride safe. And don't get "cocky" when you get good! Been doing the two wheel thing since before you were born. And yes, I was a dummy. Just six months after I got my first bike (No protective equipment, too big a bike for me to start.) I dropped it and broke my leg and ankle. I know better now. (It was not a dirt bike, but a Yamaha XS650.) i would recommend you get a cr250 or a cr500....ha aha ha aha I hope you're using your mother's account! I wouldn't want to hear about a mom - supernatural or otherwise - who is 12 years old! |
