Dose the military still use dun buggies and dirt bikes? Yes. Special Forces use dirt bikes and four wheelers. I haven't seen any dune buggies lately, but I will ask the Army guys I work with. I sure they use them too. Source(s): Military Member Yes specail forces mainly use dune buggys mounted with .50 cals and polaris atvs for recon and quick deployment. Effective for covert ops but not effective fighting vehicles, as well they are a lot quicker then walking. Army uses atvs around bases to. Special Forces (Seal team 3) uses a "Fast Attack Vehicle" which is the dune buggy mounted with a variety of light weapons.
