Remember back in the late 60's and early 70's when everybody was into riding "dirt bikes"? |
Don't ya miss those good times? Oh yes...I remember that time. I was 12 years old and didn't have any money to buy a dirtbike. And we weren't rich or anything so parents getting me one was out of the question. So I begged everyone I knew incessantly until I had parts enough to build up a bike. My dad and me took parts off of several broken bikes and made one that would actually run. It had a Yamaha 80 2-stroke motor, Honda frame...and who knows what other brands for other components. The bike was held together with baling wire, plumbers tape, even a roll of that old cloth tape libraries used to fix books (sorta like duct tape). The bike looked like a rolling junk yard and I got many comments from my friends to that effect too. But I also beat some of em with that "mighty junk heap". Fun times...and yeah I do sort of miss them. But now I have kids of my own and they work on their bikes and have fun with it too. Yammaha 250 "Enduro" (Yellow) I remember "mini bikes". Fat little tires and briggs and stratton engines with rope starts. Made by companies like Arctic Cat. Remember those? Like these: http://www.minibikeclub.com/ No I don't remember those times I was not born then. However I enjoyed being taken dirt bike riding by my father and now I enjoy riding my dirt bike. i had 1 of the arctic cats, had a ball on it,first real dirt bkie was a at1 125 Yamaha i think it was a 69/70 year model. Yeah, and it was the time of the 'scrambler' bike. Whatever happened to them? Or are they now the same as Enduro bikes? |
