Bike fitting help, what specific bike would you recomend? |
i am a highschooler looking for a mountainbike, into freeriding just about anywhere, i bike atleast five miles a day, looking for a bike that will take almost virtually anything i can throw at it, aswell as dirt jumping somehting i can take over 5 feet high. something preferably disk brake. the local bike shop recomended a trek 820, got the insurance, and a month later their surprised i nearly totaled the bike. any bikes you would recomend, that you have ridden and have proven you worthy? I had a Trek 820. Totally unsuitable for jumps. Steel frame, 21 Gears on Shimano pods. RST forks. Reasonable XC, but not fast. Change your bike shop. Right, if you are into freeride, then you do not want too many gears, as this just confuses the issue when jumping. If you are into XC, the more the merrier, prefereaby Deore, although 24 speed is less likely to stick. XC, your saddle position needs to be set up so that your leg is nearly fully extended on the downstroke. Freeride, you should be able to grip the saddle with your knees when jumping. Also, the frame has angles similar to female bikes, IE the top tube slopes down more, to allow clearance for your legs when performing stunts. Final consideration. Get an Alli frame, either 6061, or Specialized A1. Final bike choice, Scott do a good free ride bike, as do Giant. Then go back to those local inbred bozos that you call a bike shop and tell them you want to try out your short list (You will only know for shure by sitting on and having a test ride). Don't hessitate to ask more questions if not sure. These are expensive investments.
