I spend little But make None!? |
I am a 15 year old boy. I always saved for the last couple of years. I have roughly around $1,000. But $500 of it I can;t use at all!! So lets say just $500.00. Resenly I'v been spending it, like every 2 days I have to spend $6 in gas for my dirt bike. I eat once and awhile. It justs seems to be catching up with me. As soon as I turn 16, I will get me a job, but thats like 8 months away. So how do I manage? Soon I am going to run out! Dirt biking is a must. So should I like only spend on dirt bike here and there. and once and awhile get other things, like in 2 weeks I need a bithday gift for a close friend. Im also going to mexico this weekend. How do I keep themoney.. To figure out exactly where your money goes - keep track of how you spend it. Keep careful records of everything you buy. You will be surprised at how fast money goes away. You only eat out once in a while? Total up the amount you spend, and it will be more than you expect! Now that you know where your money is going, you can make changes to your spending habits to keep the money longer. You may find that you spend $20 each week for gas in the dirt bike (obviously this is important to you so you probably cannot give this up.) You may find you spend $20 each week eating out (this you can probably change). If you cut your eating expense in half each week for two weeks, you will have saved enough for another week of dirt bike riding. Do you see how this works? By figuring out what you are spending, you can make better choices to spend your money on stuff you enjoy more (like riding your bike rather than eating a McD's meal!). This is a great habit to start now when your young. It will be one of the smartest things you do as an adult! Good luck and keep riding! Riding the dirt bike isn't a must...Choose days of the week that you do other things. That way you can save on gas. Eat at home instead of going out to eat and that will save you $ also. As someone else said, the dirt bike riding doesn't have to be done everyday!! and for sure don't eat out so often...Try to figure out a plan that you can live with; maybe ride the bike 3 days a week, and eat out only once a week; something like that...or, eat out 2 times a week and ride the bike once a week; you'd have to sit down and figure out just what would work for you..the key thing is not to deprive yourself of all the fun!! BUT not to overspend on it, either; ask your parents for some suggestions......believe me, whatever you decide upon will make the money last longer and you'll be so proud of the fact that you could do it!! Good luck!! Congratulations on finding your passion and attemtping to finance it. This is the way that most successful people start. In my opinion, take a look at the places and people you are riding with and at. Is it big tracks? is it just close friends? Look at what you can buy and sell to teh people around you. Maybe bottles of water, but it for 50 cents, sell it for a dollar. Maybe protein bars or other gadgets. Keep an eye out for the needs of the people around you and try to sell enough to pay for your gas and repairs. |
