Tyring to find the model # or engine size? |
Ok, my neighbor has a 1987 yamaha dirt bike. we know very little about it, and he needs to know the engine size. We called Yamaha and gave then the VIN - no help there, he needs the model #. Well if there is a model # on that bike then we are blind cause we can't find it. I know VIN's on cars are coded, so i tried to google that, nothing. This bike needs some work, but it's hard to get parts when ya don't know what you need. here are all the numbers we could find on this bike: 1RH-015948 YAM1RH0223 65086222 7-8220089 JYA1RH002HA015948 Any help or resources are greatly appreciated and thank you for reading my long post. at the base of the cyl head will be the size of the of the cylinder in cc's ok this is what i have discovered so far...J=japan, YA=yamaha, 1=motorcycle, tenth digit being an H= 1987, still looking...this is interesting to me.. im thinking that RH should be SH as that would indicate a offroad vehicle(S) and H being displacement from 150-199ccs.. the A in the 11th position is for the standard non restricted power output version, im guessing that a california model would have a different letter in this position. The last 6 digits are your unique bike identifier...thats all i can get so far i hope it helped a bit. Could try looking at an online parts fiche, such as the one below. Also, could you indicate where you pulled those numbers from? I know the one is the VIN, but about about the others? You might be able to match it up. Did you just call a Yamaha dealer? The personnel there can be useless. Contact Yamaha - they will tell you what model & year bike you have. They want to sell parts and keep their customers happy, so they will be loyal and buy another Yamaha product in the furure.
