What would be a good alternative to a honda 150 4 stroke enduro? |
i went on a bike ride with my brouther in law last week he has a huskie 450 dirt bike the trails were fun but i had problems getting up the hills i dont know if it was because my weight is to much for a little 150 I just moved my nephew from an XR 100 to a KTM 85. Hills that he couldn't even begin to climb on the 100 were nothing on the 85. It made a world of difference for him. The 150 really doesn't make much more power than the 100 so I understand exactly what you're saying. I wouldn't recommend a 125 mainly because if you are tall enough for a 125 you are tall enough for a 250F, KDX200, or KTM 200 any of which would be a much better woods bike than a 125. If a full sized bike is too tall in the saddle right now I would suggest either the CRF150R or a KTM SX85 or 105. The CRF comes in a 14" and 16" rear wheel size so pick the one that fits you best. A KX or RM 85 would also be a decent choice, but the KTM 85 just can't be beat for woods riding. The low end on that bike is just incredible. The KTM, Suzuki and Kawasaki 85s all use a power valve which makes them work much better in the woods compared to the Honda and Yamaha which do not use a power valve. Stay away from those two for trail riding. Your riding skill and confidence will increase exponentially once you start riding a more capable bike. I'm not sure which Honda you're talking about. Hills are 65% technique and 35% bike. If you get it down on an underpowered bike think of what you will do when you get more bike. I couldn' t recommend a bike without more info on weight, age, height, riding style and goals. Although: YZ 125's are a lot of fun and KDX 200's are very tough and cabable trail bikes. You can get either cheap. |
