I have a 125cc dirtbike and its hard to start up it takes about 30 mins to start up??? |
I HAVE A 125CC DIRT BIKE 4stroke AND ITS HARD TO START UP...EVER SINCE ONE DAY I WAS CLEANING THE BIKE WHEN I FINISHED I WANTED TO WARM IT UP BEFORE I LEFT TO RIDE AND WHILE I REVED IT UP A MY BROTHER PULLED THE WIRE THAT GOES TO THE SPARK PLUG AND IT CAUGHT OFF IT TOOK ME ABOUT 30 MINS TO CUT IT BAK ON NOW IT TAKES ME ABOUT 2O MINS JUST TO TURN IT ON.AND WEN I DO I CHANGE TO FIRST GEAR IT SHUTS OFF AND IT TAKES ME ANOTHER 10 MINS TO CUT IT BAK ON ANY SUGGESTIONS ???? I more than likely you have a bad connection where the spark plug cap (the part that goes on the spark plug) fits into the wire coming off the coil from the jerking the wire off the plug. simple fix: disconnect the cap from the plug. with a twisting motion, twist the cap off the wire. take a sharp knife and trim about 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the wire. with a twisting motion, re-install the cap back on the wire making sure the prong of the cap is trying to insert into the center portion of the wire (most wires are carbon/silicon based, not actual copper wiring). I would also recommend replacing the plug while you are at it. if this doesn't fix your problem, you will need to check out the ignition with a volt/ohm meter as it might be fried from pulling the wire off while the bike was rev'd up ... good luck!!! ...did you try changing the spark plug? If you damaged it you could have these problems. The contact distance has to be just right or you can't generate the proper electrical charge. Spark plug maintenance is a big part of bikes, especially dirt bikes. pmk is correct, that will do the trick......good answer.... |
