What do the terms cutout and whoop refer to with respect to motocross?

I would love a glossary of dirt bike/motocross terms

--I've never heard of "cutout", but this is what "woop" means.
--Woop, most commonly called "woop-d-do's" or "woops".
--A series of evenly spaced bumps. The series can be from 3 bumps-up to forever.
--The bumps are about 2ft high and the peaks of the bumps can be spaced about 3 ft apart.
--A slow rider will roll over them (up-down-up-down-up-down) with both wheels on the ground. A fast rider will just touch the very peak of each woop with just the rear wheel. Flying over the whoops just like a street bike rolling over cracks in the road.
whoops are the bumps
A cutout can refer to an actual large divot out of the ground where a rider can very slowly roll through it, but likley even a novice can easily jump it. It was a level or slightly decending jump to cross. Kind of an easy double jump.

At some mx tracks here in Tx, they were popular around 1995-1998, but then most tracks reverted back to the typical do or die double and triple jumps-these are usually as steep as whoops, yet much taller. Now the local DFW-Tx tracks are as hairy as they were in the late 80s.

Try MXA mag.com for explanation of mx terms-and remember if you do not turn pro, it is better to race mx pretty fast for a long time than really fast for a short time. If it is a hobby , then you will always want to do it-save your body for the long haul.
