About dirbikes? |
How old do you have to be to have a dirt bike, do you need a liscence for it and where do you get it? There is no legal age limit but the manufacturers suggestion is normally posted on the bike somewhere and as for licensing not unless you're on a maintained road which also includes graded dirt roads. The manufactures suggestion on age is a liability issue for them if it says 16 and you are 12 if you get hurt no matter what you cant sue them because they told you you shouldn't be on it etc. no age limit, no certification or anything is required, unless you want to ride it on the road. There are 5 year olds on dirtbikes. Most dirt bikes say right on the seat and/or plastics Must be 16 to operate So I would say you need to be at least 16 As far as licensing - nothing really other than a orv The dirt bike I bought my 6 yr old last year is about 2 ft tall and doest have any sticker that says you must be 16, but it did have trianing wheels. which have since been removed. I started on dirt bikes when i was 10 or 11 (thiing to get my daughter a head start). There are Motorcycle Safety Fondation (MSF) classes for dirt bikes you should search to see if there are any in your area. you dont need a license, you just have to register it at the nearest orv, theres no age limit common sense I started on a Honda MT 50 at age 10 |
