What does 'Works Replica' mean? |
I have this written on my old Kawasaki dirt bike and was just wondering what this means. I guess the question is what does 'Works' refer to in this context. the factory raceteam bikes are works bikes it means they have all the best go fast goodies on them the same parts as the factory race team uses yep, a "works" bike was a bike that the factory set up for their top riders back in the day (before Monster Energy and others)... these were the baddest of the bad motorcycles... a replica would mean it duplicates a "works" bike ... but more than likely, means yours has some of the same stuff, graphics, maybe some suspension mods, maybe even some engine performance mods ... but doubtful all the "goodies" of a true "works" bike 40 plus years of racing/riding & wrenching my own bikes Some thing written on a bike does not mean it is a Works Bike, If you have one It will be in-graved on the Eng and frame. It's called tagging. I owed one when I was younger And had been looking for it to buy it back for the pass fue years. As the other top contenders said YES it will have the best of the best parts BUT if something brakes If the part did not go into production you will need to modify the part to fit. Like my cylinder head on my bike had a stage 3 porting job and a read valve that you can't buy from your local shop. It ran a 38 mm carb witch was way advanced for the bike of it's time, TS piston on rollers with C clips. And what the public got was not the same. This is where the term Stock Parts comes in to play. The only thing that was stock on my bike was the gas tank. Cycle rider and racer of Scotts Cycle Pit Bike Race Crew and, Cycle Mech badge #a8757 |
