Carburetor intake needle? |
I have a Yamaha WR450F dirt bike and when the gas is turned on the gas flows right through the carburetor and drains onto the ground. Is it the intake needle? Any help would be great. your float is stuck open. It could be the float has fuel in it? or it could be some dirt is in the float needle seat? or it could be the float needle and float needle seat are worn. You should disassemble the float bowl, check the float level, and clean the float needle seat. Check the needle and seat for wear or obvious dirt. if it still leaks on reassembly, consider new needle and seat. sounds like the needle and seat need to be cleaned, while the bowl is off, make sure the float is still empty and clean. Good Luck The float needle, yes. Or it's seat, or the float itself. Could be if it's stuck, then again it may be the float. Sounds like the seet. Pull the float bowl off the carb. The float is conected to a little needle with a rubber head. Clean it out, inspect rubber tip, replace if needed, put back together. Before taking the carb apart, make sure the drain screw isn't leaking. --Turn off the petcock. --Loosen the drain screw (on the float bowl, next to the over flow tube, pointing sideways) and drain the gas out of the carb. --Tighten the drain screw and turn on the petcock. --If the fuel immediately drains out, the screw isn't making a good seal. --Otherwise, like everyone else has said, the float needle is leaking (worn out, dirt prevent it from sealing, floats stuck or need adjusting). |
