I would likt to know the best mods. and performance parts for a 250cc four stroke dirt bike. Please include price.
its really hard to say wihout knowing what bike you have, but off the top of my head i would say a jetting kit to keep the jetting spot on all the time. people ignore this sooo often and it makes such a difference when the fuel air mixture is just right.. an exhaust header, an fmf power bomb to be specific, not sure about the price as it depends on the bike but go to www.chaparral.com and check out prices there, they have everything. a better silencer can is allways a good buy but make sure you buy the right silencer and exhaust header for the driving you do, and the terrain you cover. off road? go for a "low boy" exhaust header as it will accent low end power, motocross? go for a short header, maybe one made by white brothers for maximum top end punch. remember, you will need to re-jet your bike to keep the mixture right for all of these modifications. a performance air filter is also a good and cheap way to gain a bit more power ( about 30 dollars). just make sure you clean it often enough to keep you engine from inhaling dirt. a CDI unit, or sometimes known as a rev box changes the ignition timing of your bike and can definately offer more bottom end pull with more top end power with the same box. there are many options when it comes to bying an aftermarket CDI unit, depending on what you ride, but its usually about 50 to 100 dollars. the next mod is probably a wiseco piston which are usually a bit lighter and can offer some more power, the go for about 150 to200 dollars with rings and pin. if you have a lot of money to spend, consider buying a new cylinder head from pro circuit for about 1500 to 2000 dollars for a lot of power.

im a mechanical engineer and i ride street, motocross and enduro/off road I would say, a nice full exhaust about 3-400 bucks. Then you need to jet it. 50 to 100 bucks then you could get a nice 2 stage filter 20 bucks and if u want to go hardcore you could buy a 270 kit for like 700 bucks. even a sprocket conversion for like 80 bucks would help. full exhaust and better shocks
