I will be hauling a Harley sportster and a 250 dirt bike? Also how should the weight be distributed with the Harley being heavier?
Will you be carrying them side by side or in line abaft? Check the towing instructions for your tow vehicle and trailer hitch. It will talk about tongue weight and that is your guide line. The tongue weight is what would read on a scale if you place a support from the tongue onto the scale. If side by side, put the heavier bike on the lighter side of the tow vehicle (Harley on the passenger side if the passenger will be lighter than the driver). Distribute bikes to get tongue weight if line abaft.
As for speed, do not drive less than 55 mph on the freeway, slow down to the suggested speed in interchanges and watch out for crosswinds. Also, please make sure that your lights on the trailer are working and that this includes the turn signals. Change lanes carefully and remember that trailer when you are passing. i wouldn't go any faster than 50 to 55 mph if you are towing you are not running a race
