Should i buy a 2006 yz 125? |
I am 16 years old and i have been riding dirt bikes and atv's for at least 7 yrs. I want to get another dirtbike and im not sure weather or not i should buy a 2 stroke because of mechanical problems. I want it because i no the power these things have. let me know what im getting myself into with these 2 strokes and if it worth the maintence. Yes, a YZ125 is the perfect bike for a man of your age. It is an excellent bike probably the best 125 ever made. Get plenty of practice and spend some time riding on motocross tracks if possible. 2 stroke bikes are a little less reliable than 4 strokes but 4 strokes are also heavier and when a 4 stroke requires repair they are much more difficult and expensive to work on. You can easily replace a top end on a 125 in a couple of hours with a minimum expense in parts. 4 strokes are 10 times more complex and expensive to repair. ];-) , The maintainence isnt much of a problem but if you are going to get into 2-strokes, then you have to be a pretty aggressive rider or the bike will kick your butt. If you think you can handle the aggression then i would actually go for the yz250 because that is the ultimate 2-stroke bike. the yz 125 is a little under powered i think i would step it up a little bit and get the 250 and the 125 is a hard bike to ride i would get the 4 stroke 250 there is less shifting and they are fast as hell. The suspension is awesome on them to way better then the 125 the 250 is just a all around better bike. If your racing go with the fourstroke 250 if your freestyle get the two stroke. But stick with the 250. I'm 17 years old and i race 450's i think you will be fine with the 250 best 125 yamaha hav made so far light quick reliable and fairly easy to ride...stick with a 2 stroke as u obviously havnt had a 4 stroke go bang on ya lol nice bikes 4 strokes but very high maintence and trust me they do go bang and 99% of time u end up with a massive repair bill..2 strokes r coming back!!! buy a honda cr it will kill a yamaha any day |
