How long is your post-ride routine?

I have to clean my bike after every ride. Atleast get the dirt off the frame and wipe off the sweat on the stem and shifters. I also wipe the tires and check for cuts and scrapes. Now and then I oil the chain and wipe off the excess. After that I have to clean my helmet and glasses. I take the lenses out of my Oakleys and use warm water and soap. I wipe them clean and dry. After that I eat something light with enough protein for recovery. I drink 24 ounces of water. Finally I take a shower. This process after every ride takes me roughly an hour. How long does your post-ride routine take?

P.S. This might be unnecessary but I check the shifters for function and also make sure the chain is moving through the gears properly. I think this is obsessive but it makes me feel better. I dont use all my gears when I ride so I wonder sometimes.

If needed, I will clean any sweat off the top tube and bars. Some days my bike sweats more than others, ya know. Takes 1 min when necessary.

Checking my tires takes a quick spin. This happens quickly while it goes in the rack. No extra time necessary.

My glasses get cleaned every two or three rides. Takes 1 minute whenever I decide to do it.

Who cleans their helmet?

The above takes virtually no time away from my day. It happens too quickly.

My focus is on three things when I get back from a ride.

1. Rehydrating
2. Getting the cycling clothes off and showering
3. Eating

I then get on with my day/evening.

The bikes get their regular cleaning/maintenance, but I don't disrupt my day with it.

Hey you have the right to be as anal about it as you want, after all you paid alot of money for it and want to get your money's worth and also get as much back when you resell. I personally just make sure it's clean enough to bring into the house and inspect before a ride. About 20 minutes

you seem to have a lot of free time. after my ride, I put my bike in the garage and go about the rest of my day.

I thought I seen your picture in the dictionary under OCD. I can't believe you don't wash your cycling shorts and jersey after a ride. At least I do that.

30 minutes

I think you go a bit overboard dude. It's just a bike.
