Don't get me wrong; he's a great competitor, and you could be too, but if you are talking about just starting as a pro at age 36 then forget it. Y.A. Tittle quarterbacked in the NFL into his early 40's, but he began in his 20's.

One of my favorites Erik Zabel is about 38 I believe, he did pretty well during the TdF this year I remember.

You can still compete but realistically you won't be winning races against guys in their twenties so the question would be one of motivation- you'd be cycling without any expectation of winning and personally I would find it difficult to motivate myself to do that.

yes, there isnt an age limit and generally there are companies sponsoring all age groups. at 42 you can race master's, and it would be simply a matter of being good enough to be noticed by a team.

Yes you can.With a lot of practice you can compete with everyone.
Cycling is a beautiful sport.Age is not that important.
