How can I make my bike cooler? |
I have a plain silver mountain bike, any ideas as to how i can 'pimp it'? I have been ridding mountain bikes for ages now (I am 40) and I would not have one of those multicoloured bikes even if it was given to me for free. When it all comes down to pimping your bike up you need to take into account functionality or performance. I am not saying what a bike might look like is not important (my Rocky Mountain SXC70 is probably the sexiest bike I ever had) but you need to look into that kind of upgrade that will transform your bike into a better performer (you do not want to be a poser do you?). If the bike is worth it, I'd say put a decent handlebar in, maybe new brakes, and things like that. Please do not waste your money on vanity. First thing you can do is get rid of 'uncool' parts like the reflectors, and the pie plates, which is the plastic plate thing on the rear wheel/cassette. If you're painting the bike, match your parts color as much as possible to the color, if you're keeping silver then its easy. Get silver stems, silver wheels. Or, keep basically two color scheme, like silver and blue. Keep the frame silver, then paint the rims blue (not the brake area) and if you can find blue tires that would work. Most bikers dont tend to pimp their bikes. Due to the fact, that mountain bikes get muddy and therefore will not be able to see the paint or what you put on it. The only way to make your bike look cool is by not trying to make it look cool. You could tape a baseball card in the spokes so it sounds like a motorcycle! That was my favorite thing to do!! spray it dont paint it. Bikes look better when they are a neon colour or just plain black with other colours. Get some metel caps for your wheel aswell. Fill the tubes with liquid nitrogen. You don't get much cooler than -40. Stick it in the fridge. ride it in the winter - it will be much cooler tape it up completely with black gaffer tape |
