How can I make my bike cooler?

I have a plain silver mountain bike, any ideas as to how i can 'pimp it'?

Like painting it, and what colour if so? Or like sparkly things, or streamers, or something?

Or how I could make I could make it more gothic?

I have been ridding mountain bikes for ages now (I am 40) and I would not have one of those multicoloured bikes even if it was given to me for free. When it all comes down to pimping your bike up you need to take into account functionality or performance. I am not saying what a bike might look like is not important (my Rocky Mountain SXC70 is probably the sexiest bike I ever had) but you need to look into that kind of upgrade that will transform your bike into a better performer (you do not want to be a poser do you?). If the bike is worth it, I'd say put a decent handlebar in, maybe new brakes, and things like that. Please do not waste your money on vanity.

First thing you can do is get rid of 'uncool' parts like the reflectors, and the pie plates, which is the plastic plate thing on the rear wheel/cassette. If you're painting the bike, match your parts color as much as possible to the color, if you're keeping silver then its easy. Get silver stems, silver wheels. Or, keep basically two color scheme, like silver and blue. Keep the frame silver, then paint the rims blue (not the brake area) and if you can find blue tires that would work.

Crank Bros make these cool looking pedals, one shaped like a guitar, another a yin-yang that you could get.

Get some cool stickers, maybe if you get the yin-yang pedal you can get some asian/king-fu/ninja stickers and make it a wu-tang bike.

Most bikers dont tend to pimp their bikes. Due to the fact, that mountain bikes get muddy and therefore will not be able to see the paint or what you put on it.
If you are wanting to pimp it though, spray some logos on it and get some stickers and stick on the downbar and crossbar, making look naturally part of the bike.
But please, do not get any sparkly things or streamers! They just look naff and will ruin the bike. They only belong to a princess bike you have at 5 years old.

Making it gothic is easier, spray it black and have black wheel dyes put on and black mudguards. Everything black really, and put some lights on the back and front of the bike, making it look extra gothic at night times.

Hope i helped!

The only way to make your bike look cool is by not trying to make it look cool.

What one person might think is cool, another might think that you have created a dog's dinner.

Remove ALL logos, stickers and the like so that no one is really sure what it is. If they are at all interested - and they won't be - they'll look at it to find out what it is.

Personally it should have a fixed wheel!

You could tape a baseball card in the spokes so it sounds like a motorcycle! That was my favorite thing to do!!

And we'd also tie party streamers on the handle bars.

spray it dont paint it. Bikes look better when they are a neon colour or just plain black with other colours. Get some metel caps for your wheel aswell.

Fill the tubes with liquid nitrogen. You don't get much cooler than -40.

Stick it in the fridge.

ride it in the winter - it will be much cooler

tape it up completely with black gaffer tape
