Going on a biking trip from LA back home to San Diego (HELP/ TIPS)?

im planning on taking the Amtrak up to LA from SD and then riding my bike back home
any tips for like where i should stay along the way, how many miles i should go a day
and what entry level road bike i should buy
thanks

Many people do that in one day (a very long day).
If you want to do it in two, stop at Carlsbad overnight.
If you want to do it in three, stop overnight at San Clemente, then Encenitas.

Start the ride in Orange County - it would be a bit more dicey roadwise and bike-lane-wise coming down from LA. If you want to add those miles, you can do some loops around the OC, or just make it a shorter trip.

I can give you turn by turn directions to do this ride. Contact me for more information.

Wasn't there just an earthquake there? Maybe you should stay away from rocky area's that could split in an aftershock.

Good thing you didn't do it today, that earthquake woulda knocked you over...
