Secure a Bike Seat?

My Bike seat is driving me insane! when i put it on my bike and sit on it, it will either tip forward or back, the saddle not the post kinda like when your adjusting it, i tighten the bolts as tight as possible but the bike seat still moves around, it seriously hurts and i fell off my bike once in the middle of traffic due to it.

Is there something in this world that can hold the bike seat still so it will stop moving?

Thank you!

It's probably time for a new seatpost. If you have the Laprade style (very common), it may be that the serrations have stripped, leaving you with nothing to bite into for friction. Take the seat off and undo the clamp...those serrations in the metal should be crisp and sharp (both pieces). You'll be able to tell by looking at them if they're stripped.

If you get a new seatpost, pick up a different design. You can find them pretty cheap if you shop around a little. The cheapest seatposts (excluding the wal-mart types) are that Laprade design and are often made of a softer aluminum. Get something newer and better. :o)

One thing you could try is putting a small rectangular or u-shaped shim between the serrated clamp surfaces....very thin aluminum like a piece cut from a beer can (which seems to be thinner metal than what is in soda cans, for some reason). I've heard of people doing that on seatposts and stem clamps and sometimes it works. It may still slip on you, though, but it's worth a shot if you don't want to get a new post just yet. Good luck. :o)

I would say get a new seat. You probably stripped out the bolts.
