Heart rate monitor for cycling. 拢100-ish?

Hi, My first post.

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a good heart rate monitor for cycling 拢100 or under and for use on the road. If someone has bought one recently maybe they recommend it or whats good things to look out for. I am looking to improve my fitness and pacing my self on endurance rides.
(if people think 拢100 is not enough please let me know)
Thanks in advance.

I picked up a real basic Polar F4 model. It was $100Cdn, so it's gotta be less than L100. I use it a few times a week, sometimes on the trainer, sometimes out on the bike paths.

It basically just records your heart rate. It gives readings on how long you've been exercising and how long you've spent 'in the zone' based on your age and your BMI. It also gives you an idea of how many calories you've burned during your ride, the date, time, and a stopwatch.

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but I've already got a cycle-computer on my handlebars, and I don't do laps of anything, I just go for long rides and record everything into my computer when I get home. For me, it's all I need and I heartily recommend it!

if i converted it right that amounts to about 70 USD it really depends on what level you want to get and what all else it can do. you can spend alot more on those but my people hold out for a deal. sounds like you might have found one...

I just bought a Timex Fitness HRM. Came with chest strap, wireless digital connection to a watch. It works wonderfully. Automatically computes 5 training zones and an additional manual training zone. You can set it up to buzz when you are out of your selected zone. Reports time in zone, average hr, peak hr, and calories burned. I got it for about $35 at a Timex shop in a local mall. That's about 17 pounds. For 100, you should be able to get a HRM that dowloads workout data to your laptop via USB.

Since I got the HRM, my training has really gotten much more effective. I recommend the book "The High Performance Heart" by Dr Phil Maffetone.

I have two HRMs.

One, a Vetta V100HR, is affixed to my road bike and is a combination speedometer/HRM. It works very well, but being mounted on the bike, I can't use it with my other bikes without a lot of kerfuffle.

My other HRM is a Polar S150 which is worn like a wrist watch. This HRM can be mounted to the bike and act like a speedometer if you wish. I just wear it like a watch and use it to monitor my heart rate on bikes other than my road bike. My only complaint with this HRM is that it can be hard to read during operation. (This may just be my particular unit, other buddies don't have this issue.) Of course, I am usually on my MTB while using this monitor which means I don't have much time to look at it.

Both of these units record average and maximum heart rates for one ride. They don't store data for multiple rides. You can set ranges. The Polar can be set to beep when you exceed your ranges which can be either very good, or quite irritating. Neither of these units has the ability to transmit data to a PC - you've got to pay a good bit more for that capability. Both of these units are within your price range and I have been pretty happy with them.

Hope this helps.
