Do you think, I still can learn how to ride a bike?

OK, this is kinda embarrassing. I'm already 30, but up to now, i still don't have that biking skill. But i really would like to learn.

The reason, when I & my siblings were still kids, my father wouldn't allow us to have bike nor to ride on any bike, since he remembers his godson who died bec of bicycle accident...

Anyone, can give me tips for me to learn quickly, and with less scratches? Thanks.

Hi Just put your helmet on and find a big flat place to practice with no distractions and no cars. Put your bike in low gear and start trying. It will be easier than you think! Have fun.

Being 30 you are bigger and strnger thena kid so you should learn fast. Use a bike that is a little small for you - it will not be as intimidating and easier to practice on. Make sure you have a lot of space and don't have a peanut galery watching to distract you. A empty parking lot - no traffic and a lot of room. A friend a long to help out would be best.

Sure you can, you just need to find your balance. I would get the bike between two things you can grab and then look for balance. You'll find it.

You need to work on your ballance. Bikes with stabilizers are fine for teaching you how to peddle, but you can get that at your local gym.

I would be tempted to take the peddles off and ride the machine for two weeks or so, using it as a stroller. Twenty minutes around your block in the the evening. Once you have got the feel of the bike, put the peddles back on and try short peddling stretches on flat ground. Although you might try a slight slope to get you rolling.

Luck

Swimming pool.

There's no way to learn biking without the scratches. You need to take your mind off the scratches, or even regard each scratch as a 'medal' of your effort to bike.

The best way to learn? Forget the training-wheels. Get a good friend or family member to go with you to an open field. The first step would be to slowly ride distances of about 10-15 meters with your partner's help in balancing the bike. Don't spend more than 20-30 minutes each day here.

After about five days of this, gradually increase the pedaling speed and the distance traveled. Get upto about 50 meters a round.

Before you begin with the exercise, explain to your partner that when he/she thinks you're ready to pedal on your own, he/she should just let go off the bike. Do the above stage until your partner lets go of the bike (of course, you need to be already pedaling at this point; instead of starting stationary).

Safety equipment at your age is a must. Biking helmet, gloves, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee-pads, shin guards and, if you're a guy, protection for the family jewels.

This way, it should take you a month to start pedaling on your own.

anyone can learn to ride a bike. now that you are older you are more aware of your stability. once you get and go,you'll have no problem!

Get a bike of the right size. Find a flat grassy area. Get on and pedal...Don't forget to wear a helmet.

IF you are not ashamed to have training wheels, you can turn the training wheels up, where they keep you from falling, but dont touch the ground when you are balanced. It really helps.

find a grassy hill and coast down it. use your brake if you have to.

Riding a bike comes easy. I learned when I was 4 in about a week and a half, I am quite sure that you have a higher mental capacity at 30 then I did at 4.

Suggestions for learning:
Get a friend to hold the back of the seat and push you along and then let him let go once you are rolling and pedaling. but don't tell him when to let go. All of a sudden you will be riding a bike. do this a few times and you will be a natural.
