How do you fix a Gear Changer on a Mountain bike?

Actually the Gear Changer itself isn't broken. The front gear just wont go up to the highest gear. I tried loosening the screws on the actual "thing" that pushes the chain up and down the gears and it only increases the range toward the lower gears, and the highest range only takes me to the second highest gear. I hope that makes sense! lol what can i do!?

It sounds like you need to adjust your cable tension. Your cable has stretched. There should be a barrel cable adjuster to perform this function. You will need to re-adjust your hi screw setting on the derailleur as it was before.
