Is there any special way to put a back tire on a bike to make sure it goes on right?

one without a quick release, just two nuts on each side

hey,

Just pull it up into the frame tight if doing it in a stand, if on the ground just press down on the bike - this is to make sure the axle is seated in the dropouts properly.

If it is the style where one side (drivetrain side) is fixed, and the other side is not, mostly tighten the d/t side, pull back on the wheel, make sure it is centered between the chainstays (frame) and mostly tighten the non d/t side. gently tighten both sides, switching between them.

make sure you don't put it on upside down.
i always shift into the smallest cogs on front and back. it lessens the tension on the chain, also makes it easier to get the chain on the right cog when going in. watch your wheel and get it centered in the stays before clamping it down. frames with verticle dropouts are easy, as they have only one placement. in the case of horizontal drop outs, the cheapies dont have stop screws. you have to center the wheel between the stays and then tighten the nuts, otherwise you can get in wheel in crooked.
If you mean fitting the Tire..I always use a bit of soapy water to make sure the tire comes out even...all the way around..
Make sure it is in the right position by spinning the wheel and seeing if it wobbles or not. Also make sure the brake pads close onto the rim sidewall not on rubber of the tire. Tighten down and recheck.
