Is Raleigh a good Bicycle Brand? What about Specialized? |
I am trying to get a bike that is good for the neighborhood. I am a female with a small child. I was shown a Raleigh Ventura (I believe) (considered a Comfort bike) and a Specialized??? - I think it was a hybrid. Any thoughts. I was thinking of getting a bike trailor or a child's seat for the back. Both those bikes are nice. However, you'll find that Raleigh tends to have one level better components on it than a comparable Specialized, for the same price. I don't know how small your child is, but remember that whether they ride in a trailer or a seat they must be wearing a helmet, and in order to do that they must be able to hold their head up without fatigue with the helmet on. And, don't forget a helmet for yourself... what would your child do if you got hurt? Source(s): 27 years in the industry If you are pulling a child trailer pretty much any brand will do. Both are fine choose what fits you and your needs best. Raleigh has been around for a while. Though they went through a big slump, they have come back to the market with a little roar. Their high end bikes are pretty darn good. (reviews) However, Specialized is on a great roll with offering something for everyone. From personal expierence of owning both, I believe Specialized has em beat with the x cellant customer care, more dealerships in more locations in the states, and a full line of accessories to accompany their products. These days, most brands (other than dept store bikes) are dealing with quality. They want your business. You have to deceide if this is just a bike or if you are going to stick with it. Want to upgrade, or just have a clunker for weekends. See which dealer is in your area. If you order a raleigh and theres no shop around, well.Again, They are both winners you deceide You can't go wrong with either brand. they're both good. Also, go for a child's trailer no matter the cost. If cost is an issue, consider buying a used trailer for around the price of a new child's seat. The trailer is much safer and if you fall, your child won't go down with you. I always ask this question so I'll ask you as well, "Which is more important; Saving a few dollars or your child's safety?" If condition is important, Most trailers are rarely used so you can get one for pretty cheap, but in great condition. Search craigslist or any other listings near you. You'll be surprised at what you'll find. I think Specialized is much better, and pretty much any bike brand is better than Raleigh or Diamondback (ever since they merged, they are not as good as they used to be) |
