Huffy Bikes? |
Are Huffy bikes usually for ONLY children, or can adults use them too....I'm 5'7 and my friends feel that Huffy bikes are too small for me? Your opinion? Well, I've had a Huffy Monaco I bought from a local sporting goods store for over 8 years. It is a workhorse! I even like the saddle that came with it! My longest ride so far is a 350 mile bike tour, and on my fanny tag I wrote: "YES, IT IS A HUFFY!" so people I was passing would get the point. My bike computer indicates I have over 2000 miles on it so far. Sometimes it's not the bike, it's the engine! But, I agree, if it breaks, it's really not repairable. But, I did take it to my local bike shop first thing and had it checked for correct build. Brand has nothing to do with size. If it's sold at Walmart, Target, K-Mart......you'll know it's JUNK as far as quality goes. It's not a matter of "size". That makes no sense. Huffy is a bottom end bike brand. They will not hold up to any serious riding. If you want a decent bike, go to a bike store. That's all they sell. Would you go to a doctor who also does oil changes on the side ? It's not the size of the bike, it's the poor quality of the welds. Huffy bicycles usually fall apart when the weld at the rear dropout fails. Then the tire starts to rub against the inside of the seat-stay. Since children don't have credit cards, it's their parents who are purchasing the bicycle for them. No, there is an event in which adults participate , for which a Huffy is required. It's called the "Huffy Toss". Usually at any bicycle swap-meet, there will be a Huffy Toss. Last year at the swap meet in St. Louis Missouri, someone (an adult man) threw a Huffy at little more than 34 feet., winning the competition. huffy bikes are ok but it don't matter how old you are just get one and pedal away lol Do you know why they have a "Huffy Toss" ? It's because that's the only thing they're good for. A quick check on the Huffy website would have saved you from all the people that gave you information other than what you asked. Huffy makes bikes for children and adults. If you are thinking about a smaller bike, I know of many people that like them because they tend to have faster acceleration and quicker handling than those with larger wheels. All this being said, Huffy does tend to be poor quality, but they also make some true competition grade stuff... but it is very expensive. |
