My friend asked me but i had no clue the answer, What bicycle tires are good for people over 300lbs? Hey, Tires are okay. any tires should be fine, but if you want stronger tires, pick up something with a kevlar bead, but be warned, they cost some $$$. What you may want to be worried about though are the wheels (rims, hubs, spokes). You want (i might even say NEED) something with a "double-wall". They will be much stronger. Here is a website with singe-wall rims. Pay attention to the black diagram on the right. http://www.remerx.cz/index.php?remerx-si... Now, here is the profile of a double-wall rim: http://www.remerx.cz/index.php?remerx-ri... That extra piece strengthens the rim significantly, causing it to stay in true with more weight and abuse. The only other thing, if flats are a problem, get some downhill or puncture resistant tubes... good luck Source(s): work in a bike shop For what kind of bike? The good news is that the tougher wheel-sets for whatever bike tend to be a lot less expensive because they aren't trying to shave all that weight. So the old adage may not be true in this case that you get what you pay for. The biggest tires the bike can fit. The extra air volume will lessen the shock from bumps, and will protect the wheels and frame from damage. Most stock mountain bike tires running on the high side of their pressure range should be fine, but for a road bike the width should be at least 28mm. |
