Where can I take free courses on bike maintanence? |
Where can I take free courses on bike maintanence? Check with universities in your area... I live in toronto, and every year the University of Toronto has numerous maintenance clinics held for free outdoors on campus. With September on its way, there are sure to be some... Local bike shops often offer clinics, but they usually costs some money - not much though. check it out, it may be worth it. If you know anyone who is either a bike mechanic, or knows their stuff, I'm sure you could talk a friend into a mini lesson. That'd be free for sure! Lastly, there's the internet. Countless resources with step by step instructions, diagrams, movies, etc. The Park Tools site is GREAT and very extensive - check it out! http://www.parktool.com/repair/... Good luck! Source(s): work in a bike shop If you live near an REI, they usually have a few free bike maintenance clinics throughout the year. I second the previous one and the one before that. A lot of bike shops will do this as well. It gives them a chance to demonstrate they know what they are talking about, so you go to them when you need bike stuff. Plus you learn, everyone wins. Park tools site has some good self repair stuff as well. Many of the things you don't need one of their tools for and can do it urself with some basic tools. Also, some good books to put in your library. Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance, or the art of road bike maintenance depending on what you ride. He also has a dvd out as well. Here's a linky to the different ones. http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/105-996... Go to www.bicycling.com and check the new book on bicycle maintenance---this will arguably be a superb reference book for those who want to learn modern technical maintenance ( with the high-end bikes now out in shops you will feel confident in fixing the latest gear.). Its now available! |
