How a bike front suspention works? |
I have a Hummer Mountain bike XL There is a concept called the sag and you must set up your suspension to properly work For example If you have 100 mm of travel in your shock roughly 20mm should be taken up by sag. This is how far the shock compresses with just your body weight sitting on the bike. Put a tie wrap around the shock shaft (the part that goes inside the shock leg when it compressess) and let it slide up the shaft when you sit to mark the point where it compresses to. Get off the bike and measure its position from the top of the shaft. Then dial in your shock +/- until 20% of the travel is taken up with sag. THis is suspension. Imagine a hammock with rubber bands instead of ropes. I don't know specifics about Hummer, but front mountain bike suspension forks use technology similar to car shocks. Front suspensions can be spring based, fluid based, air/gas based based on the manufacturer of the fork |
