What is the maximium rear cog a Shimano short cage mech. can handle?


I have 53/39 chainrings and a 9 speed Dura Ace rear mech/short cage. what is the maximum size of rear cog that will work with this setup? Please don't explain about triples or compacts thank you.

I wouldn't go higher than 12/27 on the rear mate.

Yep, 27t is the max.

To the person who gave the "thumbs down" to the two answers of 27t for the max. cog, what do you suggest as the max cog? 27t sounds resonable to me.
