Bike rideing or walking is better ?



witch is better Bike rideing or walking ? & what is the bennafit of riding the bike compared to walking. witch looses weight faster. riding my bike I have noticed I have lost no weight ??????????????????????????????...

That's good advice. I think the old standby of "lower and longer" vs. "high output" exercise is changing with research, but the bottom line is still calories in vs. calories out. If you exercise, your body will adapt. Regular exercise will boost your metabolism and you'll burn more fat at rest, too...you'll feel better mentally as well as physically!

Cycling is "better" in a lot of ways for weight loss, cario fitness, and general body health.....but only if you do it with a purpose. Just pedalling around slowly without working yourself isn't going to help out much. Overall, cycling will use more muscles than walking, but different muscles. This is why cycling and swimming are the two best activities for people in therapy or recovery.

Walking will strengthen your ankles, feet, and parts of your trunk muscles that cycling doesn't affect. It can also help with general balance. Flat walking and stair climbing use very different muscles in your legs than cycling does. I think if fitness and weight loss are your goals, you should do both of them. Just be happy with whatever exercise you do, so that you'll keep doing it!
Losing weight through excercise requires long duration low intensity excercise, often called the 'fat burning' zone. Long duration means in excess of 30 mins and normally greater than 1hr. I often rise my bike for 3 hrs plus.

However walking briskly for long durations has much the same effect and I find it equally enjoyable, particularly in areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Often walking will be the better option for fat burning where the journey is only a few miles. Riding a bike for 5 miles will only take 20 minutes @ 15mph. However the same journey on foot will take around 1hour.

It is also important to remember that to lose weight that you burn more calories than you consume. So you can either eat less or cycle or walk more :o)
