What is the law regarding cycle helmets and children in the UK?


is it a legal requirement that my 10 and 7 year olds wear cyle helmets?

In the US, states and cities set the helmet laws. Many states including Michigan do not have any requirement. A hand full of cities do though.

In the UK it may be local too.

in the us any one under 17 has to wear one but the law in not enforced that much. police dont care but in the uk idk
As far as I'm aware there is no helmet law in the UK and it's down to user discretion. I know I had to wear one when i was 7, but I don't bother anymore unless I'm going dirt jumping or doing downhill.

PS I am actually English not just an American doing a bit of guesswork =P
