What determines a bicycle's size? |
How do you measure a bicycle.12",16" etc.Thanks. It depends. If it's a childs / youths bike, it's done by tyre / wheel measurment. On adult bikes, (where the wheel size is the same) it's done on frame size / inner leg size. Source(s): 2 years working in a sports buying department, buying several hundred thousand bikes. I think it is the size of the tires the size tires the bike has have the most influence by the radius of its wheel Kids bikes and WalMart/Target bikes are measured by the wheel's diameter. If you go to your local bike shop, the bikes will be sized according to the frame size, usually in centimeters. It's the measurement from the bottom bracket to the top tube. I'm 5'10" and a 54-56cm is usually a good size fro me. Little kids bikes go by tire size. Full sized bikes by the seat tube length measured from the middle of the crank spindle to the center or top of top tube or top of seat tube. So measurements actually vary a little in that respect from one maker to another. |
