If i cycle 1 hour a day or more , can i lose weight??

i can see that my leg is strong but stomach wise .. terrible..so my question is can cycling make you lose weight?? if so whats the lenght of time should i cycle per-day??

It all comes down to calories in / calories out when it comes to losing weight. Yes, you can lose weight cycling but it will depend upon how hard you work. I teach spin classes and you can burn 600+ calories/hr in my hard classes if you really work. But if you are cycling on flat roads at a leisurely pace you really need to track your heart rate to make sure you are keeping it up high enough to burn calories.

For your stomach toning is another issue. Cycling does help build some core strength if you are riding on the drops and keep light on the handlebars but I recommend adding some core excercises like crunches, planks and other excercises that focus on building the musles in your stomach and even more importantly your back.
Ofcourse it can... well depending it in ur persistency to lose weight... so maybe if ur weighing 180lbs - hmmm.... 5miles a day.
Losing fat is doable on a bike. It depends on much you exert yourself - does your route include hills or headwinds? The faster you travel, the more power is required to maintain that speed.

Losing weight is easy - maintaining weight is challenging. Men do best with exercise and diet (in that order).

You may want to also consider weight bearing exercise - even men have to be worried about diminished bone density.

Yes, you definitely can! Go for it! :o)

If you want to lose weight, then cut out any extra calories and bad nutrition.....while at the same time increasing your exercise. If you have fat you want to lose, it may not come off in the areas you want it to, but over time you'll lose it if you keep up with the good nutrition + calories in vs. calories out.

Cycling is a great choice for losing weight, and you can gently tone up muscles all over your body while doing it. Low-intensity riding might burn fat faster, but I think the jury is still out on that. The bottom line is often just about food intake vs. exercise output, though.

Ride if you enjoy it, ride often, and you'll notice changes soon!
I would suggest doing a mixed ride, with some hills and some flats, ride up hill in a "tuff" gear were you have to muscle it out, stand while going up the hill. then spin high rpms on the flats, stand if you want more upper body work out.
Yes, you can lose weight. I lost about 50 pounds a few years ago and have kept off by cycling. I average about 3-4 hours a day between the indoor trainer, commuting to work, etc. I try to sneak in a ride whenever I can.

If you want to work on your stomach, you might want to do some ab-specific exercises.
