Cycling and Fitness?

Does regular cycling tone stomach muscles?

I have answered this question before and received a torrent of abuse, but I will answer it the same again.

NO . . .

Try sit ups instead.
Only a little with me..... But if I add some weight training and abdominal exercises with the cycling, it puts my ab toning into hyper drive.
yes and no...some are going to tell you no, and if you are in very good shape, cycling doesnt focus enough on your abs to do much. however, at the end of a century where you spend 6-7hours riding, especially if it has hills, you will find your entire body sore. so i guess my answer is it depends, if you run out and knock out ten miles, no you arent doing much. on the other hand you spend hours and hours riding and it works almost everything.
Somewhat. But nothing I'd call a workout. Your riding style would influence this. If you mountain bike for example, getting out of your saddle, a lot humping up hills, really thrashing the bike around will vastly increase your abs use over sitting steady in the saddle on flat smooth roads.

If your even asking you probably what to do sit-ups/crunches etc.
Cycling improves your overall fitness but will not directly tone your abs. You need to add some stomach exercises to your cycling regimen if you desire flatter toned abs.
