Annoying clicking noise on bike...?

I have recently got back into cycling and bought a cheap mountain bike to tide me over until i can get my good old one back in action.

The chain recently fell off, and i popped it back on, but since then, something is making an annoying clicking noise at the back there and i dont know what it is? the bike still works, but its driving me round the bend!!! Any ideas what it could be and how do i make it stop?

You don't say if it's a single speed or what... more info would be nice.

In general:
1. lube chain
2. if chain is old rusted dropping it could easily have kinked or bent a link.
3. broke/bent a cog tooth.

Simply turn the bike over on the ground, spin the pedals with your hand - look and listen. That's what a mechanic would do.

EDIT: you did this and could hear a noise? Most noise on a multi-speed bike is caused by the chain not riding exactly on the cog. Many causes. 1st is to do a minor adjustment to the rear derailleur. Turn the cable barrel adj. in or out a little and turn the pedals, you can look right down the chain-gear line to see if it looks lined up and the chain is quieter and runs smoothly over the cogs.
-Try oiling the chain.
-if that doesnt work your kickstand might be intefering w/ your wheel. try adjusting it
-if that doesnt work then switch your gears from lowest to highest and maybe that will knock it back into place.
When I was younger, my friends and I used to put playing cards on the spokes of the tire with clothes pins to make a motorcycle sound! It sounded nothing like a motorcycle by the way..... :-)
The chain could be going too far towards the wheel and touching the hub. If you can see that happening, adjust the little screw that changes the end stop on the shifter.
Its either your seat or your crank! Try adjusting your seat at the top of the seat post. If its not that then your crank needs new bearings.
I would bet anything it's a chain problem. If after you have cleaned and lubed it and checked for stuck links (which are easily fixed) then the chain is obviously stretched and you need to get a new one. You might want to have the rear derailleur checked just to be on the safe side too.
okay, it might not be adjusted correctly. it will click if the chain isnt lining up right after a shift. there is a barrel nut on your rear derailure. back it out (lefty loosy) and see if it clears. if it gets worse try turning it in. since the chain came off it is possible it wasnt adjusted right. also it never hurts to lube the chain.
