On a bicycle, why do men and women's bikes have different frames? |
Men have a bar straight across from the handle bars which many men have knocked their nuts off of. Women have a bent bar on their frame. Wouldn't it make more sense the other way around? Is there any explanation for this? This is because In the past, women would ride bikes in longer skirts. if they had a straight bar like we do, then every guy they ride past would get a "free show." so they bent the bar for them so that their dresses and skirts wouldn't ride up when they peddle. because men are too macho for a bent bar! This is an old tradition. Men swing their leg over the back wheel, a lot like getting on a horse. Women are too proper to swing their leg over like this. Instead they demurely step through the frame, right in front of the seat. The reason for the womans frame is that the style dates back to way back in the day, when woman wore long skirts so they wouldnt be flashing everyone everything and thats why the frame is sloped down. I dont kno why they still make them that way but that was the main reason for them a long time ago. I think the design is so that ladies can get their leg over the middle, but yeah your right that does suck to get your nuts racked, but the seat alone can do enough damage on its own. I had a friend when we were kids and the seat went up his *** after we were jumping a very tall ramp we built Look up this question asked 21 hours ago: Why do girls bikes have the low bar when boys have the wedding tackle? Theres 15 or more answers there. serious women's bikes arent that way. the sloping bar makes the frame whimpy. if you look at women's bikes that women tour and race on they are like men's bikes now. in fact women end up using men's bikes a lot, though companies like terry have come to recognize women have a different build than men and make racing bikes to fit women. when the safety frame bike was introduced women wore long skirts. the sloping tube allowed them to ride without showing much. it is just something left over from the roots of cycling, and it is completely out of date now. |
