Whats a better crank set a 2 peice or a 1 peice? 1 piece or Ashtabula cranks are at the very low end of the crank line. They are only used on the cheapest bikes. 2 piece cranks are a high end design. They are replacing some of the 3 piece designs. They have 2 crank arms with the BB axle attached to the chain ring side crank arm. 3 piece cranks have 2 crank arms and an axle they attach to. These are used on medium and high end bikes. They are the most common performace design used today. the 3 piece is likely better but the 1 piece is great, simple, cheap, durable, if your not competetive, save your money. -edit- 2 piece, hmmm learn something new everyday. in which case, i don't know, but would still bet a one piece to be cheaper and more durable. (the down side, weight) i prefer a 3 piece A 2 peice is better, but Haro and some others have some really strong stuff in the $100 or less range that are three peice |
